Special Premiums at the Fair
William Barhite of Convis was the homliest man and received a $8 razor from W. E. Bosley.
William Barhite of Convis yelled “Ward Bros’ Clothing” the loudest and received a $3 hat
from Ward Bros’.
Wm. Barhite of Convis was the man wearing the longest collar, and he will get $1 worth of
laundry at the City Steam laundry.

Peter J. Higgins received notice today that William Barhite had been granted an increase of
pension to $10 per month from September, 1903.

Mrs. Eliza Barhite
Mrs. Eliza Barhite, aged 75 years, died at her home, 335 north Marshall avenue, at 3:00
o’clock Sunday afternoon, following a brief illiness.
Mrs. Barhite was born February 22, 1861, in Eaton county and was the daughter of David
and Laura DeForest. She was the last survivor of a family of twelve children.
Her husband, William Barhite, died 26 years ago.
Twenty-five years ago Mrs. Barhite moved to Marshall from Lee township.
An only child, Niles Barhite, died in 1918. Mrs. Barhite is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Kelser-More
Funeral Home, with Reverend F. M. Thurston officiating.
Burial will be in the Porter cemetery, Convis township.
